Ham and cheese turnovers (empanadas) 8 turnovers
Ingredients 2 amount for basic pizza dough (see basic pizza dough)
Ham & cheese filling 200 grams of fresh cheese, drained 14 slices of smoke or cooked ham, minced 125 grams of parmesan cheese, grated 30 grams of dried tomato, minced or ½ cup (125 ml) of tomato sauce 60 grams of black olives, seedless and minced 2 tablespoons of fresh basil, minced
Preparation
Filling: In a bowl mix the fresh cheese, ham, parmesan cheese and tomatoes or sauce, olives and basil. Season and set on the side.
Prepare the dough like is explained in the recipe. Divide in eight portions and form with each one a disc of about 15 cm diameter. Divide the filling placing it in the middle of each disk, spread water on the edges, fold and press with a fork to close them.
Spread oil on the turnovers, place in a greased pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the fluff and golden.
Note A lettuce salad, seasoned with vinegar or homemade mayonnaise, would be a good addition to the turnovers.
